Simon of Cyrenne helped Jesus carry His cross on the way to the crucifixion. In this new ministry we, as a parish, support and help families experiencing the loss of a loved one. We want our parishioners to know that we are there for them in such a difficult time.
Every member of a family can participate in one way or another. Children can make and send sympathy cards. Teenagers can babysit or do any needed errands around the house. Adults can cook meals, visit during the wake and after, run errands, etc. All members can pray for the deceased as well as for the family.
Sign up forms can be found in the back of both churches. If you are interested, please read and consider carefully what you can do for the bereaved families of our parish. You can place your completed form in the collection basket or drop them off at the rectory. If you have any questions, please contact Marge Pike at 401-722-7605.
SIMON MINISTRY VOLUNTEER FORM
St. John Paul II Simon Ministry would like to invite anyone grieving from the loss of a loved on to attend our newly formed bereavement group. Beginning on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. We will be meeting on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in St. Cecilia Sacristy. Please use the “Adoration Chapel” door on the Newport Avenue side of the church. Come and hear the stories of people who are going through the same kind of loss you are. Sharing is optional and never mandated.
